Typewriter Shoot

Writer Meryl Hancock and photographer Ken Brass visited from Sydney this morning for a photo shoot for a feature story to appear in Australian Country magazine early next year. We grabbed 22 close-at-hand typewriters for the occasion. Happily, Canberra turned on some fine weather.

Is that your backyard? What a lovely setting. It's always fun to see a group of typewriters together and try to identify them. That's a lovely marigold yellow QDL; I've not seen it in that colour before.

Hi Caroline. I have to confess it isn't my backyard, it's the Rose Gardens at Old Parliament house. It is a nice setting, though. I tried to squeeze in as many colours as I could for the summery occasion.

Rose gardens... typewriters... Isn't Canberra just fantastic?

Interesting that you should say that, Jasper, because people just out for a walk in the Rose Gardens this morning got the totally unexpected but much appreciated (or so they said) bonus of a 'show and tell' typewriter history presentation! I kid you not.

Very nice collection of typewriters. I like your shirt. Are those birds flying from the typewriter?

Robert Messenger said...

Thanks Bill. Yes, they're flying from the typewriter on the T-shirt, which is a Halda (the typewriter that is) :)

I must make time for a trip to Canberra and see your awesome collection when I am next in Sydney again. I am afraid I won't want to leave! (and won't stop drooling)

That's a great selection of typewriter colors, shapes, ages, and designs.
